How to study for GCSE and A-Level Sciences during summer holidays

During summer holidays most of the students tuned to being relaxed by watching TV, playing sport and now a days on social media. One should be much disciplined to get motivated to study.  Keeping yourself focused every day is far more difficult; one should try throwing parties, planning a trip, family, so that you will not feel frustrated.

We love to play, roam around; watching movies and many more things, the reason behind this is that either we love to do it or we find it easy to do.  To do anything different from others first we need to put our heart in it and then we have to make efforts to achieve that. First you have to make a plan then after execution of the plan you have to review it every week and make modifications according to your needs.

This is the human nature that we all want to do those things which we love to do. So to stay focused on studies you need to do these things:

Study with your friends or Group study

Students who study in group once in 3-4 days are more likely to have a better understanding of the subject rather than others do. Group discussion is the most important thing that one must engaged in.  Frustration can wedge motivation. Studying with others can keep frustrations at bay. Try to pick the person who is sensible. Studying with the less focused students only make the situation grievous. To study one must not pick your best friend as it is more likely that you both loose time in talking. You can see the things by different perspective by engaging in group discussion.

Eliminate distractions

Stay away from the things that distract you like social media, phone etc. Your phone must be silent or switched off. Keep your study table clean, if you are surrounded by things you would rather do than study, you will probably do those things instead of studying. The more time you give to these things the more you distract and less time will be left for studies.

Check your health, exercise daily and stay hydrated

Human mind can’t stay focused the whole day, so you must relieve some stress by sparing some time for physical activities and sports which you like to play. Stay healthy and hydrated by eating good balanced diet and drinking ample amount of water. When your body stays healthy then only your mind works. A healthy body comprises a healthy mind. Rigorous training is not required at all because it make your body exhausted which induces sleep, so prefer only mild workout routine.

Plan your timetable

Method: By using two kinds of slots, free slots and fixed slots.

Fixed slots are slots which are decided earlier and can’t be changed. They must be approximately 60% of your time table. Rest of the time is your free slots in which you can do your unplanned things. Free slots are those slots for which you are not planned

Find a suitable studying environment

One must find a quiet place to study. There should not be hustle and bustle all around so that your concentration gets disturbed. Find a comfortable chair [not so], a good study table. Your study room must be properly cleaned and arranged, it must not contain TV or something like that. Your bedroom, living room can’t be your study room.

Take short breaks

After 1 hour of studying, take at least 10 minute break. Do something which relieves your stress like listening music. Get back to your studies after the break.

Stay motivated

Make a motivational poster that inspires you and paste it in front of your study table so that you feel motivated most of the time. It should contain some positive remarks. It must be talking about success.

Make reasonable goals

Making impractical goals only demotivates you because you will not achieve them and you are in between having nothing in your hands. One must make reasonable short term goals for a day or a week. If you plan for very long time it will rarely benefit you.

Advantages

It helps you to keep updated

Humans have a tendency to forget whatever they learn within two to three days, if we do not revise them. Repeatedly doing revision helps you to stay connected to your studies and make sure that you do not forget what you have learned.

Consider a situation where you were taught Photosynthesis a day or two before your summer vacations begin. Now suppose you have spent all you time in travelling and hanging out with your friends, not going through the chapters even once. When the college reopens, you would be wondering what does that word even mean!

Reduces pressure

Most of the schools and institutions give holiday work to their students and this will be asses after the vacation when schools open. If you have done well you will not face any issue later during the exams, if you failed to do homework it will make the situation more complicated. So to score good marks in your exams you must be revising your

Ample time to try practicality

Nowadays practical experience is more important than theoretical. Suppose you are a student of physics you should try things that you have learnt in your class, if you are student of geography you must visit different places to get a proper knowledge of the subject.

For some people summer is the leisure time for planning trips, playing sports. But if you utilize it in proper manner it will be very beneficial for your studies and hence improve your results.
